This artifact was completed in HHPK 516 Current Issues in Kinesiology during the Summer II 2024 semester. This is a research paper over the effects vaping has on the body of high school age students and the rise of vaping in schools. This meets the competency of the outcome because it provides an in depth look at a current problem effecting multiple school districts across the state of Texas. It provides evidences and solutions to the current issues of vaping in school. This assignment required me to find multiple sources and read multiple articles over the topic to justify my finds. As a current high school teacher and coach, I see this problem every day and do my best to best inform my students and athletes about the dangers of what vaping can do.
This artifact was completed in HHPS 535 Sociology of Sport & Physical Activity during the Fall 2024 semester. This paper looks at the the advertising of drug supplements to enhance the body. This meets the competency of the outcome because it provides a look at how exercise supplements are aimed at being advertised as good for you and can help you achieve the body you want. It looks at the reasoning behind advertisement of these supplements, the aimed demographics and age groups and reasons why people may take drug supplements. As a current high school coach, this topic of taking supplements to better enhance athlete's bodies is an on-going debate. There are pros and cons and it is my job to best inform my athletes as well as make sure they are not doing anything to harm their bodies or break any UIL guidelines and rules.
